mcu vs ECu

whats the differance with a MCU and a ECU? i had a 2.3? in my 84 ranger from teh factory but now theres a 2.8 with a carb and i want FI back... and i dont know if that 2.3 was FI from the factory because there are way too many conectors for a carb...

what does a MCU do that a ECU doesnt do... do they what did the MCU do on the 84 2.3? are they carbed? or FI? i have a MCU but its not pluged in... i also have a SH!T load of box connectors that arent pluged... its factoy was a 2.3 but its not a 2.8 thats not done very well and i got it like that.. thanks for the help... i dont know too much about trucks...

so it was a 2.3 and was swapped for a 2.8?

yeah... i got it with the 2.8 but the oil rings are toasted and i need to put a differant motor in there and i want FI... and i would like it to be reliable... im on the road alot... the tranny clutch and Tcase are good to me... i need a new knuckle in the front left.... i think or a unaversal joint... i think its the uni joint...
