I served in Japan with the navy in the 70's and early 80's,a stronger U.S. ally you will not find.they are a gracious people,hard working and steeped in tradition,and they love us and most things American.
We had a trade embargo against them for their incursions into china,pissed them off and they struck in a big way,they had intended to give warning but it did not happen do to delay in typing at the Japaneese embasy in Washington.
Probably the last time in history we will see unrestricted warfare.
