maxlife or full synthetic?

I too change my oil every 3 months i hardly drive 1500 miles between but its my kind of relaxing. what do you mean you mothers car has had 2 engines? (the fram filters?)

...For oil filters, I have always used a Motorcraft. But this next oil change, I will be using a PureOne filters.

I saw a comparison done between a large amount of filters including the PureOne and Motorcraft FL-1A. A lot of people know how good the PureOne filter is but it turned out that the Motorcraft filter has the exact same internals as the PureOne. Its a PureOne filter in a Motorcraft housing and is a couple bucks cheaper than the PureOne.

I love those tests. Everyone says "OEM is crap" and then it turns out that they are just as good as the premium parts and usually cost less.

Yeah i get a kick out of those people.

My Moms 03' subaru has went through 2 engines, as in they both just blew up. Both only had gotten like 45,000 miles before they threw a rod or blew a head or something....? Anyways the first one we thought blew up because we switched to synthetic oil because it blew up a few changes later. and the second (Brand new one mind you from subaru) just started using oil like an SOB like a quart every few weeks and it doesn't seem to be burning it and its not leaking it. its just gone. anyways that one blew. and now its at 105,000 miles or so with another used engine and its starting to tap something horrible. ONly thing I can think of is the fram filters my dad has been getting for them the entire time.... or that subaru sucks lol.

I got $5 off for it when I buy an air filter also. Oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter get changed on the 125K mile mark.

The one oil filter that I have been keeping an eye out for is the Royal Purple oil filter. But I would hate to know the price.

Well online its probably around 10+ dollars I would imagine you would be looking at about 15 - 20 dollars atleast for a RP one.

I know someone that has a subaru and has engine problems also. i do not know exactly what problems, but I think one of the things is it goes thru mad oil.

Yeah they apparently have a good rep for reliablility and I have yet to see an ounce of that in her car... lights are popping out everywhere, we can't even read the fuel gauge at night. its blown 2 engines and my truck gets fairly similar gasmileage (granted i have to go a bit easy on the gas) but I can come within 1 or 2 mpgs.

I honestly think (atleast the second engine) was run exclusively on fram filters and it was toast.

heres a final questions. What IS the whole deal about maxlife? Why should I use it over regula or syn. oil?

Maxlife has additives that condition seals and help prevent leaks. Mobil 1 High Mileage is a full synthetic that also has additives like that and everything if you are looking for full synthetic but still want a high mileage oil. I use it with no problems.
