i have been thinking about swapping out my al4d for a m50d,only problem i have is that i went out with a bunch of guys memorial day weekend and saw a jeep clutch shit the bed as soon as he hit a good size watery mud hole, and then another guy with a 92 ranger said he had the same problem not too long before, is that a common problem with manual trans or were they both just due for new clutches?

I have had my clutch immersed in water while stuck and it did not give me any problems. Mind you it was dirty water and not mud.

if you don't use the block off plate then yes it can fail. The block off plate keeps water and debris out of the bell housing.
