I know I'm a lazy slacker... but on my 89 BII I finally decided I'd check out the brakes tonight... I purchased it almost a year ago and found receipts for brake work less than 1000 miles prior so I just haven't really wanted to look at them. When I took off the front wheels the hub came off too?! Is that normal? I'm usually a GM guy so the RBV trucks are still somewhat foreign to me.

I'll need new rear shoes... 1/32 on the passenger and 2/32 on the driver... So much for only doing a water pump tonight.. at least that went well..

Yup, that is normal for all all rbv's to '97.

You can make them bolt on if you really want too.

I'll let them stay how they are... It's just when you are used to hubs staying on the axle when you take off a tire and it's still attached to the rim it kind of makes you worried if you don't know that's normal

there is an easyer way instead of making them bolt on. There are little clip thingys that only cost like $1. and they push onto the studs over the hubs, and hold them on. You only really need 2 on each hub, and if you ever need to remove them, just pull em off

Those only work with stock Ford rims though (and maybe with some aftermarket steel ones you can get lucky with too). An aftermarket alloy rim will just crush the clips (and could lead to the wheel falling off as well due to the nuts loosening). This is why the above article chrwilkins linked was written.
