Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster

I am in a toss-up and need help. I really really like the flowmaster 40 series muffler. However, i am also a fan of magnaflow. Any advice, or stories about these two different mufflers?

ill go with what ever cheaper your not gonna gain/loose alot of power between brands but i am a fan of flomaster

I'm on my first Magnaflow and I'm LOVING it! I don't know what exact one it is though...

I like the sound of the Flowmaster 40, you can buy a Thrush Welded muffler from summit racing for about 30$, and it's the same thing.

i have a magnaflow on my escort... its a 3" XL performance which i believe is their line intended for diesel trucks. it sounds great...

baffled mufflers liek the flowmaster is a restriction. the magnaflows are ussually strait thru which keeps the gas velocity up instead of the gases decompressing to recompress to exit a flowbastid. niot to mention the restriction the baffles create. i personally like the hooker max flow sound on a 4.0. The hooker max flow is als oa strait thru design. Theres some videos on youtube

the hooker aerochamber looked like a pretty cool design too... baffled but very open inside. i had a 2.5" one but never installed it, sold it when i found a complete used 3" catback. a friend of mine bought it, said it sounded great.

does anyone have a soundclip or know where i can hear one of the hooker aerochamber? ive checked youtube and pretty much everywhere else i can think of to hear it on a ranger but i cant find anything.

I have a 2007 FX4 with the magnaflow dual kit. it sounds great, but may be a bit loud for some peoples liking. i also have the k & n kit, it seems to make a power difference with the exhaust. the magnaflow kit had to be custom bent at an exhaust shop to clear my trailer hitch receiver, and was in no way a "bolt on" kit. the shop also used welded hangers, which really solidified the exhaust.

I've posted this before, but I'll post it again. I have the 4.0 OHV in my Ranger though, versus the 3.0 in the OP's Ranger.

It still is, however, a straight-through muffler on a six cylinder motor. Might help you out some.
