will a m5odr1 from a 4.0 work on a 2.9 and is this a got transmission swap

yes, direct bolt up, not sure on length, use 4.0 starter

If you have a '92, then there is no length difference in length from your current transmission to the M50D.

Do a search though, there are a ton of threads on swapping in a M50D.

I'm currently running a '90 Bronco II with 2.9L with an M5OD from a '94 Ranger 4.0, which was also used in a '92 Explorer 4.0 before I got it. It works. I'm also using a 4.0 clutch/flywheel/starter.
