It is a quick disconnect fitting. There is a plastic ring on the fitting that you have to push in towards the transmission to release it. There is a special tool that makes it easier but it can be done without it.
to connect it you just shove the two pieces together.
It should be noted that there are black and red connectors used in '88-92 Rangers
and "yellow (or gold) connectors used from 1993-up and the red/blue/black connector is NOt compatible with the later "gold" connector.
simply "yanking it out" can dammage the male part of the quick connect
and create a requirement to also buy a $50-$75 clutch line in addition to the slave.
