m5od - quicker shifting?

Might be a crazy idea, but what about using the second gear from the 3.0 transmission?

3.40 | 2.20 would be a 1.20 difference...

you can't change JUST 2nd gear, because the different ratio used a different Counter shaft/Cluster gear.

If you want quicker shifts I'd first recommend using a later transmission with the upgraded synchros and I HIGHLY recommend using a Hurst billet-plus shifter....

Yes the Hurst shifter is about $300 from Summit Racing but if you want fast positive shifts it is worth every penny...

The Ranger is a 91. I do have a spare trans, don't know what year. I'll look into the upgraded synchros....can I retrofit them into earlier years? And I already have the billet Hurst shifter.
