I know 2.3's aren't power houses anyways but mines been doggy for awhile. I just changed the o2 sensor and that helped a lot, but its not 100%. Any ideas?
Without details it could be a jillion things. I'd start with tune-up stuff if its been awhile including fuel filter, etc. Check the catalytic converter too... check compression and make sure the timing belt didn't jump a tooth.
Fuel Filter REALLY helped mine out, as did the throttle cable mod. Both of which are pretty cheap things to do first.
Compression check, check the catalytic converter, throw a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank for good measure.
But yeah, it could be a jillion things like Snake said. Miles could be a factor as well. I'd try those things first, then move onto more involved/pricier fixes.
The engine has 220,000 miles on it. All the tune up stuff is current including fresh oil. The cat is hollow soon to be replaced with reular exhaust pipe. The compression is 125psi in all four culinders ( I think thats low, but I can't find a spec ? ). I got the truck cheep because it had a burnt valve, when the head was off it was milled 10 thousands. The timing mark on the cam pulley is about half a tooth off now. I wonder if a adjustable cam gear would straighten it out and breath some life back into it?
