low oil-pressure


It pretty much is, I believe anything above 6 or 7psi will make it read in the normal range.
 
its useless unless its not in the normal range.

ford figured a minimum of 8PSI to float the crank, so anything above that closes the switch and the guage hops up to the normal range.
 
Maybe Ford wanted to stave off thousands of customers complaining the oil pressure fluctuates too much?
But, I gotta say it's a good feeling seeing the needle pegged at the "A" of "NORMAL"....ignorance is bliss.
 
thats exactly why ford went to this system. too many complains about "low" oil pressure at idle.

and ignorance truely IS bliss. even though i have a mechanical gauge hanging from the bottom of my dash, it still gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling when my dummy needle sits more than halfway up the scale :D

wow on some of the bbc blower motors iv dynoed at 8 psi im picken up rods off the flor :D
