How difficult is it to change the sensor on a 3.0 Vulcan? The sensor has never been changed in its 254K mile life.
Used to read in the middle. Not losing any oil (yet). No valve clattering at all like low oil pressure so I'm thinking its the sensor.
Thanks All.

Not hard. Oil sensor socket is highly recommended.

An oil pressure socket would have been great in my case. I couldn't come up with anything that fit and ultimately resorted to cutting the back end of the sensor off so I could get in with a shallow socket.

Whoa! Have you seen where it is??? Its mounted on the block just behind the passenger side cylinder head. There is maybe 1/2 inch clearance to the firewall. Do you drop the engine off the front motor mounts to get some more clearance?

It’s a pain to reach. I accessed mine for removal from under the vehicle. I then installed a 90 degree fitting and braided hose and mounted the new sensor where it is easier to access. I used a combination wrench. I don’t see how any type of socket could be used there with the engine in the truck.

Thanks Eric. I'll try that. Its right there by the connector for the O2 sensor for the passenger side.
I used to take out my O2 sensors and clean them when I had to pass emissions.
But getting any kind of wrench in there looks impossible.
