loud squealing...

Sadly,I left my perfect 86 2.9 to be loaned out by my girlfriend...But I digress...When I got home to drive it,I noticed that it sounded like my belts needed to be replaced...I know better,because I did so just a year ago...I took me baby to my mechanic(who noted an exhaust prob...but that's another story)...He stated it sounded like a bearing noise...I know the engine is strong-I think this might be a water pump problem...I have noticed a minor leak around the thermo neck...which seems to bleed towards the top of the water pump...Am I being paranoid or does the pump need to be replaced?...And on that note,how difficult is that?...Should I also replace the thermostat and neck?

not sure of difficulty, but it does sound like pump neds replacing, probably woudn't hurt to replace thermostat housing as well although it could be a hose issue.
