Can't quite figure this one out. It's loudest on cold start and gets louder with acceleration. I know it's not the crank parts cause they're making noise too but very little. It almost sounds an electrically generated sound and not a knock or anything. Doesnt sound like it's coming from the alternator, valves not so sure. Have a listen:

If I heard the right thing it sounds almost like an electrical whine, only worse. Maybe bearing going on the alternator? My 3.0 was loud when cold and it was a bad bearing. Especially when the alternator came under more load.

Doesn't sound like valve clatter. I'd have to say try to narrow down the belt driven accessories.

I could be wrong completely here. But that sounds like a power steering pump going bad.

Check the power steering fluid at least.

Thanks for the replies, I'm about 80% sure the power steering is good. Cause it does make noise when the wheel is turned all the way to one side so I'm sure that's good.

A loose bearing was definatly my second guess. I have a new tranny solenoid (B) put it tommorow, I'm hoping it's this as the sound is loudest at the bottom of the engine.
