I went to start it up and it was completely dead no nothing at all so i put the battery charger to it and when i went to start it again there was a loud grinding noise on firewall and the pump sounded louder then normal ... any ideas ...im thinkin solenoid but i could be wrong

So your starter is making a grinding noise when you try to start the truck?

Or the solenoid on the fenderwell made a clicking noise?

You may not have enough juice, so the solenoid is clicking on and off.

i had the charger on 200 amp start someone else told me its the voltage regulator

i couldnt even find the damn regulator in the truck and now i have a new one should i take it back or would it be a good idea just to replace it i live by the qoute "If it aint broke..Dont fix it"... but it was the positive cable from the battery to the solenoid...its sovled now

Look at the back of the alternator. If it's got two plugs going into it? It's probably internally regulated. No sense in wasting the $$ on a part you do not need.

Good job on the solenoid diagnostic!
