loud bang on down shifts

Hey I got a 97 mazda with a 5 speed in any gear when slowing down with the trans no breaks it sounds like the tranfer case chain slaping but the truck is in 2wheel drive with the hubs unlocked. When you down shift to 2nd after the clutch is out there is a bang from in the trans tunnel that sonds like the trans fell out and you can feel it in your feet. I am pulling the transfercase tomarrow. just wanted to see if anyone has any idea what could be wrong.

sounds to me like ur trans mount is shot, or ur trans had worked its way free from the block, check all the bolts, and the condition of ur mount before pulling the t-case

I know the mounts good but I will check the mounting bolts I never would of thought of that thanks.

checked mounting bolts and motor mounts nothing is lose

make sure the drivehaft is tight aswell, sounds like it could be a bad joint

well it finaly stoped raining long enough to pull the t case and when I split the case I found the feed tube to the oil pump broke off and the high range teath where they enguage the input shaft are all but gone and the planatary set looks like it was not far behind.
