Hello.
This 1987 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer popped up for sale in my area. It is listed at $1,500. It has 3,400 miles on it right now. Brown exterior; beige interior.
It is in decent condition but it needs new window regulators/switches and a new turn signal switch.
Just wondering if I should jump on this opportunity now.
Thanks for any feedback!

Got pics?

Dont sound like a bad price.

But id question that mileage big time. These only had 5 digit odometers. Its more likely its 103,000 miles, or 203,000, 303,000 you get the idea

The leopard print headliner is worth $1500 by itself. Ok. Just kidding. Truck looks good from here. Haggle it down as low as possible and buy it.

With you being in California, does it have to pass any smog or safety inspections to put the title into your name?

And is there a time limit to get them done?

I had no trouble passing smog with both 87 2.9l's when stationed in California. I asked around, to learn if anyone was better to work with; I was given advice on who to go to.

I took them in with fresh tune ups and learned how they do it...they fail everything once because they can. I asked the technician what I could possibly do to help; his reply, "it was close, come back when I have a little more time...should be able to wiggle it in".

The second test, he made a small adjustment to the idle and passed good to go??? That is how they do it, PAY TWICE, pass once 🤷🤷🤷.

And the bucket of fried chicken lunch and the cold six-pack to wash it down didn't hurt either, I suppose.

Sounds more like independent shops being crooks because, like he said, they can get away with it. PA and MD have the same problem, where some garages will hold the inspection sticker hostage until you buy something.

We get inspected at the actual gov't office, and the tech you get can be more or less of a hardass on rules nobody cares about, but there's no incentive to make up reasons to fail you.

How do you still have smog testing on vehicles theses days in the USA?

In Canada we basically have come to the conclusion that the largest % of vehicles on the road are newer and so they have had fairly very strict laws for emissions from the factory. Why waste time and resources asking Tim in his 94 ranger which is 1/1000 vehicles on the road to pass emissions? It is a waste of our time and resources.

So basically we dont test it, but you need to have the cats and exhaust system at least on the truck to get it to pass inspection. Then you can rip it off after. Nobody cares. Around me I see 95% of the cars newer than 2015, so it doesnt make sense to punish the guy who wants a 1994 lol.

You Americans make me laugh sometimes.. :)

Its not the whole USA...its only a few states. i live in MI and we dont do it. Atleast not yet. They start that shit here im moving.

Athough it was on the ballot once...back in the mid 90's (96 maybe? I dont remember) and it failed harder then a tax increase

Glad we can entertain you. It’s the least we can do considering the laughs y’all give us.

A safety inspection is the rare one, and the one I'd get rid of if I could. Mostly just makes people with oversized tires keep their stockers taking up space in the garage to swap on for an afternoon every few years.

They have emissions anywhere that had killer smog 50 years ago, which is a pretty solid reason. I can't speak to other states as much, but here new vehicles are exempt for the first 8 years, although we don't have a cutoff for older vehicles.

Cali, as usual, means well, but takes the whole thing too far with CARB certifications. Exhaust tests cleaner than the limits, or it doesn't. Parts don't need to cost 4x as much to have a special number on them.
