Looking for suggestions: more power from a 2.9

If you don't need ac take the v belt off. Switch to electric pull and push fans. On average up to 20% of power is lost in accessories. And don't put a "cold air intake on" unless your building a custom enclosure with a direct feed from an outside engine bay source.

Replacement for displacement found.

Technically the rule still stands. You can make a small engine super efficient and powerful, but doing the same to a larger engine would still make more power.

You are right. I just don't think more displacement is always the answer

Exactly. Plus you get the satisfaction of making a guy with a "built" big displacement motor feel small when you smoke him with your small efficient engine.

This sounds an awful lot like honda talk...

Typical honda guy - "I spent 100 grand souping up my 98 civic and just blew the doors of a stock v6 mustang!"

Honda drivers are special there version of a performance car is a civic that makes 300hp.
Don't get me wrong thats impressive out of a 4banger but its still only 300 ponies

If my Accord would have been a manual, it would have been G23 swapped by now.

But, sadly, it was an auto... So to the crusher it went.

There's something about the Honda Motors. True, they don't come on and mean business still way out there in the revs and your second set of camshafts engage, but what's wrong with that?

That's one of the beautiful things about efficiency, is a smaller motor that produces massive amounts of horsepower only when you need it tends to save on fuel in the meantime.

Don't get me wrong, I'm typing this as I sit here and clay bar a 6.4 Hemi, but I digress.

I would like to see them build a v8 with the same amount of passion they put into there curent product line. Could you imagine, the car community as a whole would implode. They could put it in a prelude ide buy it.

The coyote is a pretty viscous small block v8, they make upwards of 800hp and they still aren't quite as technically advanced as something like an ecoboost.

If only it came in a ranger. I think ford just likes to tease the American market and gives all the good ranger upgrades to everyone else
