Looking for some insight

Thanks all the info, people
I have been on the hunt for the 5.0L V8 even though the wife seems to think its to much truck for what we need, but basically pulling the pontoon boat 2 times a year we'll need the extra HP.
Is there any years I should be staying away from for the 5.0L or anything that I may need to know to look for if buying something used?
Are any years prone to something more then others or issues with 4x4??

Again guys thanks for all the info... I dislike car shopping its a huge cost and seem to be a roll of the dice when it comes to lemons. More research I can do the better I feel with the purchase

The first year or two they had problems with a stretchy non tensioned belt. This excessively loaded the A/C compressor and made it tick. The fix was a new timing cover with provisions for a tensioner. It was a TSB that came out when they were under warranty so if nobody complained it didn't get fix and it would be pricey to have done out of pocket. They also had a thing for the timing chain tensioners at the same time which was handy because you had the cover off anyway. Would be for like the 11-12 model years though.

I had an '88 F150 4x4 That I put 216000 miles on. Best vehicle I have ever owned. The 5.0l worked great and never gave me any trouble. Worst thing was that the exhaust manifolds eventually cracked. That truck would do anything I ever wanted. Easy to work on.

I believe 2016 is when they switched to aluminum.

2015 was.

I haven’t heard of anything big wrong with them.

Othen then bloated insurance rates because they cost so much to fix over steel :icon_welder:

Insurace is a joke anyways. I get charged almost as much for plpd on my 77 as full coverage on the wifes escape

if I was to buy an F-150 I would go Coyote. Sounds better too :icon_thumby:

IDK... "CYCLONE" sounds pretty cool, even though chevy used it on the Typhoon/Blazer thingy. ( or was that the S-10/15 )
OR were you talking about the exhaust tone, cuz yeah that would " sound" better
