Looking for fan clutch removal tools for 4.0L

point well taken, alright you caught me, when i said countless times, I meant twice, but for someone that will use it more than myself, use the 15 for that instead of brew.

Fan Clutch removal

Ok this was my second time doing a fan clutch first time couple hrs ended up taking whole water pump off benching it and wrench's with long bars it finally gave that was 2 yrs ago. Tonight after reading several threads it took me 10 mins I went with the vicegrip and channel locks method thanks stranger ranger:icon_thumby:

secure the pulley, use a thin rod and a hammer instead of a special tool and whack it off! (works good, no really)

I left one bolt in the pulley and used a wrench on the right side wedged into the ac compressor pulley to hold the water pump pulley still and then turned the nut left for the fan clutch with a giant pair of channel locks. My 94 ranger 4.0 had a shroud that said right hand thread.

:icon_confused: I just put a 36mm (i believe) wrench ( http://www.samstagsales.com/Gedore/gd894-36x.jpg )

Left everything on, as the drivebelt provides enough support to keep the pulley in place. Put the wrench atop the large nut, gave it one whack with a 3-pound hammer and voila! it comes loose. Had to take the fan off again last friday, same procedure. Key of course is the hammer whack, it'll provide enough 'shock' to the nut.
