Wanted Looking for 83-90 Non-AC Heater Box

Yep..... you're right. I found this post from SNORANGER in Aug 2020
"Note of interest:
The 83-94 heat only box was noticeably different from the A/C box.
The 95+ heat only box looked almost identical to the A/C box, except the holes for the lines to the evaporator aren’t drilled."

Thanks Guys.....
That should open things up a bit.

Another reason why I hate places like Ft. Morgan. That is a low value part, they can't make any real money off it once a human has to touch it and inventory it, so they probably just send it off to recycle blanket without asking or ONLY keep it together with a full AC system as "AC system complete" and are unwilling to sell it to you as just the one part even though they have it on the shelf in an AC kit. I think that is probably the problem you are getting with everywhere else that is not a u-pull-it.
The seat belt spring in my daily driver on the passenger side has stopped retracting so I need to go to the pick it yard and look for replacement parts / how to get into it without destroying everything. I'll see if I can get a trip organized in the near future, but without a pick it yard yourself I think you are down to people like Josh or I who can dig one up at a pull it place. probably cost $30 to ship a $10 part....

Firewalls are completely different, 83-94 and 95-11 boxes are not interchangable with each other.

Yeah I was just thinking about that myself. When they went to the new dash in 95, pretty certain that they changed the whole firewall.

OP, your only option for a lower profile HVAC plenum, may be to modify what you have.

I got my first A/C conversion box from a yard that's technically full-service but will let you walk back and look around once they know you. Agree the problem is it's not the sort of part that gets web-listed.

Wouldn't think they'd be genuinely rare, unless everyone else's yards are at the point where they're just crushing every older vehicle like some of mine started doing.

Well there is that... and that they have been getting stripped and crushed for 30+ years.

The herd ain't what it used to be. :bawling:

When I snagged mine 15 years ago I picked one out of a 4cyl truck because there was more room to get it out. IIRC there were two or three to pick from. Now it is hard to even find a TIB/TTB truck in a yard.

Yikes! I've been going down the wrong path for 2 years and leading everyone else with me. My appologies. That changes everything Guys. I have already cut the A/C unit and was going to glue a flat sheet of something over it. I should have been learning about plastic welding. I'll say it again....I love this forum.
