My f-150 got totalled the other day and I just got the check from insurance for it. Now I am looking at trucks and I think i found the one I want. Its only a 3 hour drive and has all of the options I want. Along with the options it is priced half the cost of retail. Only thing I really wonder about is if this is very many miles for the truck. its a 97 and has 173k on it. But I guess as long as it doesn't burn or gush oil or have a leaking head gasket it might be a good buy. Lemme know what you think. I rather it be a ranger but it doesnt really make a difference anyway.

Mine has 213 000 miles, runs like a top. Dont let mileage scare you, as long as it was well maintained.

Im not really too worried about the mileage I guess. Just sucks driving 3 hours for a truck when I am not absolutely sure what it is going to look like and run when I get there. I had a 93 4.0 ranger that ran like a raped ape when I sold it with 130k on it. Im very fond of the TTB suspension, otherwise I may look at newer ones......But never a Chevy, or Dodge. I would get a Tacoma but holy shit do they cost too much for even mid to late 80's 4x4. I know theyre reliable but I can't and would not swing $4k for a 20 year old mini truck.

get lots of pictures....LOTS. I traveled 8 hours to get my truck, then drove it back home. I say do it.

talk to him on the phone, get more pics if possible, then do the drive. nice looking truck for sure and he doesn't say the price is firm. for $2k looks like a decent 4x4 and he might come down to that. keep us posted.
