long bed to short bed

has anyone shortened the wheel base on a long bed ranger down to make it better off road? would it be easier to graft a short bed on to a shortened long bed frame or to just build a flat bed. i am looking to have about a 4 foot bed. sorry if this sounds funny i cant put my thoughts into words.

Theres meber on here named Todd That has a B2 frame w/ a Ranger cab. you could do somthing like that and hack up a ranger bed to cover up the rest of the frame.

Ask Patov6, he did it on his 97 ex cab. I think he got it down to 4 feet.
