Would it be possible to put lock out hubs on the rear axle? I am not saying I am going to but I am just wondering.

It would take some work, but yeah, its possible. Jeep did this with the dana 35 full float kit, using the warn manual hubs that we use on our d35 fronts, known as "jeep hubs"...

How hard would be if one wanted to do so? I think it would be a nice thing for those with welded diffs. But it is also another thing that can break...

You're talking custom axle work. You'll need the outer flanges cut off, spindles welded on, and custom axleshafts made. Its far better and cheaper to go with a selectable locker or auto locker (detroit, yukon grizzly, etc)

My buddy has an old Warn kit on the rear 9" in his early bronco
