locking hubs

is it possible to take the gears from an auto locking hub that fits a 91 ranger and switch them with the gears in the inside of a locking hub that fits a 86 ranger?

the reason im asking is that the locking hubs i got of the 86 ranger has smaller axles than the 91 ranger. im just trying to save the trouble of having to find more locking hubs

Diff axles, won't work.

you answered your question. if it is smaller its smaller.

either it has d35 stubs or d28 stubs.
