Locking Gas Cap - Removal?

okay, my g/f just got a new car ('99 zx2, im jealous) and its got a locking gas cap on it. the only key she was given with the car does not fit. if you turn it, it just spins. anybody know how to get these out without f'ing up the car? i was just gonna start breaking stuff but that usually never ends how you want...

you know, thats kinda what i was thinking.... i dunno why but i might have heard that before. the cap's junk, i just dont wanna hurt the car.
