locker swapper

Went to the junk yard for an axle shaft for my 99 ranger and found a complete axle that hadnt been touched. Cracked open her pumpkin and everything looked brand new. Long story short i grabbed the open carrier (with ring gear) and axle shaft for 48 bucks. I have a no slip locker in my 2001 ranger edge daily driver and hate it. Im gonna put the open in there but want some input. Can I do this without having to mess with my ring gear in the truck or am i gonna have to pull it all out and reset backlash and all that fun stuff. I get one day a week to work on my solid axle swap on my 99 and hate to waste it on swapping my carriers on my 2001.

You will have to set the gears back up.

Any changes in the carrier or gears require the gears to be set back up.

Thats what i figured. I guess i will be takin a day off of the swap. Thanks.

When swapping carriers i've found that that little to no set up is required, the odd time you'll have to adjust the backlash but thats easy enough.
