was Just reading the sticky thread on everyones lockers and it made me think:

With the lock-rights, has anyone had problems driving on the snow? my understanding of them is that they sort of "ratchet" when they disengage when not under load, which to me means exactly when you don't want them to they lock or unlock.

I've heard lockers + snow/ice = death.

Is that true? :dunno:

They only equal death on snow or ice if you don't know how to drive with a locker and have a lead foot, as for ice, a locker isn't going to make a difference

When (if) you get the lockers installed, take the first chance you get to visit a LARGE, OPEN space (mall parking lot) with snow/ice and get the feel of the truck in 2wd and 4wd. I took a 92 ranger with 33s and lockers at both ends skiing with no trouble.
Just get to know the lockers in the slippery stuff somewhere you have lots of extra room for mistakes.

I have lock-rights on both ends and they did fine in the 10 or so inches we had last week, they just take a little getting used to. You shouldn't be doing anything crazy driving in the snow anyway though.

Just take it slow and get the feel for it at first.

Yea after the first or second time you drive with one in snow/ice you get the hang of it and then don't even notice its there anymore. I went from a lockright to a detroit, and havn't had a problem with either.

I like being locked because it makes the truck predictable. It WILL spin both tires, EVERY corner when under throttle. Not like an open diff that can spin one half way through, then let both go when lateral traction decrease's through the corner.

I have lockers front and rear, you get some chatter around corners and some wandering when letting of the gas. But like wahlstrom said, it's predictable in the snow, unlike open diffs, just gotta get used to it. :d

Full lock front and rear you drive sideways in deap snow

My rears locked and like everyone else says you just have to pay a little attention at first and get used to how it acts. I like it, can't wait to lock the front ; )
