Lock-Right Skipping and clicking in a straight line?

$220 for the 8.8 in 3.73 gears open doesn't sound bad. 9" or 10" brakes? Wouldn't be at Badger Motors would it? I know some have found the Explorer rears for the same price but not worth it to me.

What kind of warranty does Richmond gear offer?

I wonder if you had a thrust washer break maybe, that lead to your problem.

also did you check the tolareces whe you installed the lock rite?

As an additional check to be sure that everything has been installed correctly, use a small ruler, vernier caliper or blade type feeler gauge. The distance between the halves of the LockRight, that is between the two drivers, should be about 5/32-inch (.156-inch, or 3.86-mm). The tolerance limits are between .145-inch (3,68 mm) and .170 inch (4.32-mm). If this distance is much over .170-inch, either the case is quite worn or the thrust washers are missing or are too thin and problems should be corrected before proceeding further.

even when you baby it along, the unit will lock up. and not slip on its self going in a straight line.unless your rear tires dont match in height and have a auto, then I could maybe see that.

Luckily I saved the spider gears! I spose one wheel drive is better than no wheel drive.

The open rear will be sufficient for the summer, but toward Fall or Winter I'll be looking into other options. The thrust washers looked clean. Also, the tolerances were all within Richmond specs when installed. I didn't bother to see where they were at when I pulled it though. I should have, just out of curiousity to know if anything changed. lol.

A friend at the time had the lock rite in his grand marque.. I installed it.. THe same thing u are describing happned.. The little pins broke the case of the lock rite. Removed it and sent it to richmond and they happly sent him a new one with a new waranty.
