1996 Mazda B4000, extended cab, auto transmission.
3 position switch on dash (2, 4 high, 4,low)

drive motor works (put 12 volts to it- runs fine.)
checked switch- seems like contacts, bright and tight.

Now to the question. Where is the control module? Searched behind driver and passenger kick panels. Searched behind radio. Searched behind fold down seats in rear extended cab. I'm stumped!

Thanks.

From what I remember reading, it should be behind one of the jump seats.

Someone else suggested that which caused me to pretty much tear apart the spaces behind the jump seats. No luck, can you be more specific?
Thanks

OK. Here's the followup. There is no separate control module for the 4 wheel drive system. It's controlled by the "main" module located in the dash to the right of the radio. Take the radio out, special tool ($4.00) at Auto zone.

Wouldn't you know it turned out not to be the problem. Actual problem was corroded contacts in the plastic housing where 5 wires enter the transfer case motor housing. Pain to get apart- worth it though cause it was free fix!
