lights with door handles

I have a 96 explorer and am wondering if it is possible to diable the outer door handles from turning on the interior lights. i am not interested in people being able to see whats in my truck

There should be a switch near the door hinges that gets depressed when the door is closed. You could unplug this, or maybe tape it like stated.

No the lights turn on when the handle is pulled, weather you open the truck or not. Our '97 did that, I'd take the door panel off and look for a switch by the handle and either remove it or un plug it. Orrr tint the windows to all hell...lol
