Ive been thinking about painting the "Ranger" thats on the door sill of my truck but on the way to work today i thought that i might be able to light it up. I know they make them for a superduty and mustangs but not for rangers. I was wondering what i could use to light them up after i cut it out? it doesnt seem like there is a lot of room under it.

You mean you want something along these lines?

High an low areas are to be painted, and a couple blue LEDs will provide illumination on the edges of the raised areas and outer border.

And yes, I made that. The pic was from a test fit in the truck. And they're a PITA to make without a CNC router.

whare did you get that sill plate?? i must have a set!
lol, I made 'em... I can make more in either that design or another, but since I don't currently have access to a CNC router (I cut that one by hand with a dremel), it wouldn't exactly be cheap for a set...

thats pretty cool. seems like a hell of a lot of work though. i think im going to just use a dremel and cut the "ranger" out of the stock sill and then get an electroluminescent sheet to put under it. we will see though

Not sure how well that would work, the stock sill is held on by a bunch of clips molded in the back and it's pretty flimsy, plus I'm not sure if those sheets can stand being wet.

Yea, I traced the letters from mine onto the plexi that I cut out.

i was going to fit some plexi in it so the sheets wouldnt get wet. i didnt realize that it was held on by clips though. just thought it was stuck on with an adhesive

Yup, there's a bunch of clips on the back that go through holes in the metal there.
