Lift kits..

Ok..I don't understand anything about lift kits so here are some newbee questions..

1. Will any mechanic do these ? What is a ball park estimate for a 4 inch lift kit..
depends really, tire joints will do it and you can order the kit and tires through them too
2. If you went with a 4 inch lift..what other parts will I need to buy?
possibly might have to buy the superlift front driveshaft as the factory one may be too short
3. Are lift kits primarily just to put on bigger tires..
yes, the superlift kit does not improve performance as it merely relocates the factory suspension lower
and if bigger tires..what other expenses are there?
tires of course, wheels if you want them, and if you feel the truck is gutless, lower gears front and rear +cost of install
4.Is one simply putting spacers between the body and the frame?
a body lift is, a suspension lift (for our gen of truck) just moves the suspension components down (for the front), so in a way it could be considered a spacer
Thanks,
C7

as for breaking stuff/weakening, with the lift the only problem would be cv joints (if and only if you crank your torsion bars) and wheel bearings (if you run wheels with high offset and huge tires)
