How did you get it to fit in so far? Did you have to make major modifications to the heater box? Does anyone else have a cobra 29 that was able to get it in like this? I have a 29 classic that I mounted like this a couple weeks ago. It sticks out about an inch or so farther. It fits really tight and I think it looks good but it gets hit by the shifter in 1st and 3rd. Any advice on how to fix this?

I am still trying to find a good spot for my 29LTD Classic in my 98

i did the same ash tray mod. cut out some custom brackets and to line up and mount where ash tray mounted.

and mounted the antenna towards the tailgate of the bed.

I'll have to get some pics of my setups....

My F-150 I just have a CB temporarily attached to the roof above the rearview. Not sure if I'm going to stick with the Radioshack I bought half of forever ago in it or put the big Uniden I have sitting in the garage in there. I have a 4' center load steel whip (Hustler) attached to the ladder rack right behind the cab.

My choptop sports a Cobra which is now hanging from the roll cage (I used muffler clamps to do it, laugh, but it worked out nicely) and a 102" steel whip attached to the top bar of the spare tire carrier. (and yes, it dings off low hanging traffic lights, lol).

My Ranger has the cleanest install for a CB that I've done. I stuck a little Radioshack (back when I got those, I got a pair of 'em) in the dash with the HU. My stock HU died a couple times and when it finally got out of warranty and they refused to replace it, I got a kit and a nice Pioneer HU and got to work fitting it together. I quickly discovered that I had just enough extra space to squeeze the CB in so with a little careful trimming I got it to fit. Then I opened up the CB, disconnected the speaker and wired in a jack so I could plug in an external speaker. Worked out pretty nice. Started out with a cheap mag mount antenna, then went to a 3' firestick fiberglass.

And yes, I have been considering adding a HAM to the collection at some point.

Finally grabbed a few pics of mine...

So after seeing so many cb's sitting in the ashtray box I decided I wanted to do the same. I am running a cobra wx st 2 and all I did was cut out a little of the dash, bent the metal bracket and slid the cb in if fits really snug due to the Velcro I have on the bottom from my previous mounting place

Seeing some CB's mounted on the ceiling, what are you guys running the screws into? Roof isn't very thick metal, what do you guys run screws into so the radio doesn't just fall off the ceiling? Are there metal braces in the ceiling above the headliner? I don't want to tear the headliner out of my B2 and I know the material the headliner is glued to won't support the weight of a CB very long, so what's up there to mount the radio to?

Just an update. I mounted mine here:

Same place the CB was mounted in the 84 Ranger I had when I was still in high school that I got from my grandparents. Worked all those years just fine in that location, figured I may as well just put this one in the same spot in my B2
