Ok, so I'm finally getting around to getting my truck back together... it's a '97 that had a 4 cylinder/5 speed but now has a 5.0/AOD.

Anyway, what goes under this screw that is pictured to the left of the solenoid? The screw has clean paint under it, so I'm thinking I must have taken something off of there.

Here is the thing that goes in the heater hoses. The ports in the pic are numbered... which hose goes to which port?

It looks like a ground that runs towards the cab?

The first is a ground. It branches off the Ranger harness.

The second looks like the heater bypass valve. It just hooks into your heater hoses.

They tend to leak when they get some age on them and start to go bad.....and usually cause overheating when they go completely bad.

I was thinking a ground wire also for the screw, but typically the ground screws are green in color as is the one to the right in the picture. After further investigation, I learned that the screw held the master cylinder for the clutch.

I got all excited by the title, then it turns out to be an under-the-hood question. I'm going back to the Tailgate...

Actually I win!

The First picture is the screwhole that mounts the clutch fluid reservior for the clutch master cylinder.

And whoever posted that the second item is the heater bypass valve (that all 1995-up Rangers are equipped with) is correct.

Yes, but here is the question that went with the pic...

I was wondering if this valve is directional at all? It seems like if there is a little flap or something in there that it would be bad to run water the wrong way across it.

3&4 go towards the firewall just like it is sitting, look through the interweb for underhood pics until you find it.
