I just got a left front shaft from a 78 Bronco D44 and it won't fit in my EB 44.
It fits in the carrier and hub, spline wise.
but it's to long, it won't let the spindle seat to the knuckle.
It's about an inch too long.
What's up with this? I thought the left full-size shaft was suppose to fit the EB axle...:icon_confused:
Good thing I got this sucka for free...

The EB shafts is 18 5/16 and the 78 Bronco is 18 29/32 long. Just .593 long. None of the full size are exactly the same length of the EB. Now where does it look like is stopping to go all the way in? Is the spline end bottoming out in the carrier? I had to face off some length for a buddy on his swap.

Chevy Dana 44 Will Fit But U Have To Have The Long Side Cut Down And Resplined

Every one of those 78-79 shafts that I ever used back in the day were only about 3/8" too long. I would grind the end of the axle down 3/8, and then grind some clearance after the splines so that it would slip up into the carrier.

Holy crap, haven't seen you around here in a while. Any updates to the ranger?

Sorry for the offtopic post...

I'm a lurker, bounce around from site to site. It's easier if there are only a dozen or so new posts to view on each visit. My ranger has grown somewhat. It is now front D60 with detroit, rear 14 bolt big time shaved and welded. Double triangulated 4 link rear, doubler, full hydro, exo cage, 39.5 TSL's. It looks as though your ranger has grown some as well.

Its getting there. Exo is on the list for my next mods. Still looking for a D60 for mine. I don't see the point of swapping in a d44.

if you want to send it to me, i can shorten the axle shaft for you. im sure you can find someone locally tho.

redriverranger, what side of the red river are you from?

he is from the dumb side:thefinger:

It seems there are multiple Red Rivers out there. I am just north of Red River Gorge, in Kentucky, near Natural Bridge state park and Slade, KY.

Hey Bobby Walters, when are you gonna come down and wheel with us?
