LED dash

Am I the only person who put white LED's in and got Blue numbers?

I used the single LED's, with the 120° angle. They're not Uber bright at all, any Brighter and they'd be annoying.

On the HVAC Controls, is that just white LEDs as well?

It depends on the wavelength of LEDs you use. If you use the hyperwhite ("Cool" White), you will get blue as the filter used to get the green color is actually blue. "Warm" white (what incandescents are) is a yellowish light, so it hits the blue filter and ends up green. Cool White, which a vast majority of LEDs are, produce a blue light, so blue + blue = blue.

Did you fill your tank just for the picture? Haha.

I try yo keep it full when its possible :icon_idea:

I'm soon to have Mustang hvac knob to replace mine, I want the dot on the knob to be white but mine are green all the way and my friend's mustang its clear with just the tips painted green

10$ worth of LED from ebay, done the HVAC and cluster, and the result is perfect :icon_thumby::icon_cheers:

How did you keep it green? I want to keep mine stock-ish looking but wanted it to be a more crisp green dash /white needles.

I thought someone said on here that the white LED's make the dash blue? Or is that just in the older Gens? (mines a 1999)

Thanks

I think the model year differs.. the 93-97 rangers had more of a blue-ish tint, and the 98-00's had more of a green. The OP had said he just used white LED's for his 00's Ranger, so I am going to assume that it will be green for me as well.

I had this same problem when swapping in the overhead console, as there was the blue type and the green lighted type. I had to make d@mn sure the filament was actually green.

i just put white 194-style led bulbs in my 94' and everything that used to be green turned blue and i also lost visibility of the red accents at each end of the gauge. im going to try green autometer LEDs (thats what started all this LED stuff, i put them in my ATM gauges and then decided to change the OE cluster to match) and see what happens, i like the way they look in the dark bathroom when i tested them in my spare cluster at work, but actually driving with them is different.

Just put in some white LEDx5's from superbrightleds.com and it looks like Master Focus's, except with MPH, lol. It looks good.

ive been trying to find out how to do this for a long lime i wanted to do the exact same thing you did i need to know what are the exact bulbs you put in.....it would be nice if i just had the site and the part number.....also how to you get to those bulbs.......thanks alot
