^^ so you put a plug-in replacement led in each of the 3 sockets in the back?
I thought Ford started using the 3rd brakelight in 93.
The 3rd brakelight is a safety issue but isn't required if the vehicle didn't come with it from the factory.
i'm 99.999999% positive i have one on the back of my cab.
I think thats just a cargo light. My moms 92 doesn't have a 3rd brakelight.
hm maybe i guess... hah.
that'd probably be the easiest place to set up a third brake light don't you think?
i would like to replace the whole backend with LED's, because if i just do part of the back, it'll look dumb.
It wouldn't be hard to put LED's behind it. The hardest part would be running the wiring. I'm not sure where you would have to run it from because it would have to be a non switching wire that doesn't flash with the turn signal.
what if i put in a piece of something in the dead middle to seperate the chamber, and put two sets of LEDs, one in each side, and wired each side with the corresponding tail light?
so when i turn signaled left, the left side would blink?
same with the right...
could i do that?
but when I brake they both light up? idk if i can have both, but i like the second turn signal thing.
That would be cool if you could figure out how to wire it. You could do it if you had 2 sets in either side, one for stop, one for signal. But besides that i could see it being a wiring nightmare, especially running all the wires needed to that spot.
I didn't do it to avoid the hassle of changing cheap bulbs that take 10 seconds to replace. I did it because a blacked tail lights with LED's are cooler than boring-ass stock ones, plus i had the parts kicking around that i never paid anything for and a spare 3'rd brake light from my parts truck,, so it was 100% free (well $5 for plastic cement that i barely used any of).. I am doing my tail lights the same way but with LED's from superbrightleds.com that plug right into the factory sockets. And doing all my dash lights/cluster in red led's, white LED Interior lights, amber led corners and signals. Why? because I want to.So aside from lasting longer, what does this mod do that the stocker didn't? I ask because for longer lasting bulbs, it would have to be pretty impressive to overcome bulb replacements at $1.50 each.
Its a brake light,,, what other benefits would you expect?
