Leaf spring BII QUESTION

Ok so let me start off with the fact I'm a mechanic by trade. I'm looking to leaf spring a 78/79 f150 d44. I seen a build on here that was fairly simple using leaves. I have some issues about grinding down the wedges for perches. Will this be safe ? It would be for a offroad application. I don't need any breakage. Money is a issue cause D60's go 1500 + around here.

I bought my 8 lug dana 44 and dana 60 and a sterling 10.25 for $250
There already set up for leafs and i plan on using the rancho 44044 leafsprings with them to go under my truck
