Last Ditch Effort. Anyone Anywhere Selling a 8.8 with 4.56s and a Locker?

Haha sweet. I asked the guy if he could ship it up to you (or would I guess Im not making any commitments) But I map quested it and its only like 300 miles or something. If he would meet you half way do you think you could pick it up? Im only getting the center diff part not the entire rearend so you could fit it in a lil car. I'd give you gas money. He hasn't gotten back to me I'm just thinking of possibilities

Yeah, I could meet halfway... let me know what's up, man!

Done. My parents will be leaving here sometime the first week of April, likely around the 4th or so. When you know what's up, shoot me off a PM. :icon_thumby:

You know that you can't just bolt in parts from that rearend into yours without redoing the entire gear setup, right?

Cough..yes...Haha. No, Nathan informed me of the also. So basically with the back if I want to do a "bolt in swap" I'll need the entire rear end and then disconnect the driveshaft, suspension, etc. I can't just disconnect the axles and driveshaft and do a swap like that your saying?

P.S. I...am a noob.

no you cannot. Its the whole axle or gears, one of the two. So its either get a set of gears and set them up, or get a whole axle and bolt it all in.

It really easy bolting it all together. it's adjusting the wipe pattern/lash between the ring and pinion that is irritating and time consuming. But it is also relatively easy with some white lithium grease and a dial indicator.

If it was me, even if I bought a complete regeared axle, I'd still rip it apart and check it because if one thing I've learned is to never trust the condition of used parts (with the exception of whalstrom, I'd trust him).

Or if you have the cash, it would be best to just buy new gears and a locker, and pay someone to set it up for you (or get a good buddy to do it for free... got a few of those around here). It could almost ending up the same price as if you decided to have one shipped to you.

Just some thoughts.

I think thats what I'll end up doing. Buying all the stuff I need then trying to do it myself. I can't really afford to pay much for someone to put it together for me. Hopefully in a couple weeks I can get my car on the road and park the gas guzzling ranger for awhile. Then I can wait awhile and hope whalstrom finds what he needs and can sell me what he has haha. If not over time I should scrape up the funds

Alright. Yet again TRS learns me things! :icon_twisted: With the D35 can I do that tho? I hope so...cuz thats all I have.

yeah its much easier with teh dana 35. Is there a passenger side shaft in the pig already? if not youll have to take yours apart to put it in.

I believe so. Its sitting in my ...storage place...thing. Right now and I haven't seen it in awhile haha. But I THINK so. I just assumed the back would be the same deal. I was wrong, dangit haha

Umm. Bump I guess. Had a couple things going but nothing panned thro

Ahh, brutal! Hopefully something pops up. I'll keep an eye out on some local 4x4 forums... that's where I found mine! It was open... but still. For $150 I couldn't complain. Hopefully I'll find one similarly priced for you!

Dude $150 for a 4.56'd 8.8? That is my dream! Haha. But thanks bud that would be awesome. Open is fine. I can chuck in a locker afterwards. Thanks for the offer on your parents bringing me something back but I don't think I will be able to find something in time haha.

Yeah, I don't either... they're leaving here on Saturday. LOL!
