k and N intake

I will be heading out to the garage right now to initiate this mod- thanks!

I'm a little late joining this thread but the aftermarket CAI kits are for eye candy and a little more noise. Basically they give you the WWR mod (wallet weight reduction).:D I stole that from someone here:D I put my stuff on and no help, other than the cool factor when you pop the hood. Taking out the restriction in the stock air intake system does help with a better sound though! Underdrive pulleys, chips, programmers will give you slight HP increases.

K&N are not worth the 300 plus they sell for. i and or anyone else on here could make you a CAI for under 100bucks maybe even cheaper and all the K&N is a plastic tube with a open filter on the end. BIG DEAL i could make one paint it black and slap a K&N sticker on it and you wouldnt know the difference. like everyone said before me its not worth the money it gains you no real power other than you think you got an extra 10hp. ok done venting i feel better hahaha

There are people that seem to not know that the OEM setup is a CAI, and will flow way more air than the engine will pull! The OEM airfilter / airbox / intake tube doesn't limit the amount of air flow, and the OEM paper filter filters much better than a K&N filter.

yes i know that the stock intakes are CAI the point i was getting at was why spend 300 or more dollars on something that isnt going to work when you could make one for cheaper and get the same effect of the 300 dollar one for under 100 bucks

So, you want to pay under 100 bucks for something that doesn't work either?

if he is willing to drop 300 bucks on somethin that gains nothin but a lighter wallet why not make himslef one that is cheaper. if he really wants a "cold air intake" why not make your own for under 100 dollars if he really wants one so bad

The point is why do anything at all? There is no advantage, and you will just get more dirt in your engine.

Besides that, his wallet will be lighter with the $300 one!

some people just want to change something on their truck they just want to work on it i know cuz thats how i am and before i got a job i was throwing together any thing i could just to modify something. air intakes are a real simple mod and a good start for beginners its a good place to start. if you really want to do something find a stock system from a newer truck and fab that into yours!
