Just Plain Stupied

well......You can stick your finger thru ANY part of the hood.....The grill honeycomb is good the chrome bar & mustang are good....the front bumper is a rusted pretzel....the front fenders are 50% rust....the air cleaner has been off the carb for 20+ years.....the winshield frame is rust.....the vent window frames are rust....the door bottoms are rust...the floorboards are gone....the seats are rotted thru.....the rear quarterpanels are rust.....there is no body from the trunk lock to the gas tank from rust....the wheels are sunk to thr frame in Louisiana mud....the vines that are wrapped around it are 2" thick....

other than that it looks pretty good........

I HATE :annoyed: to see any old vehicle rust away...:bawling:...nope..:dunno:.....gonna finish my '36 interior and go cruizin........

So no then?:D I agree with you about how much it sucks to see a vehicle rust away into oblivion.

You only need the title if you're going to drive it:icon_rofl: That one will never be driven again. :bawling: I wouldn't even count on the rearend being salvageable

Unless that car has a K in the vin, it ain't worth saving. Rust kills.

Even if it was a K code car, there's nothing there to save. NONE of the unibody will be serviceable, nor will the body panels. As someone else already said, that thing will disentigrate the first time you try to move it. I've run across many of these things down here to know different. The heat, humidity, tree leaves, and the critters using it for a home will insure nothing's there that's salvageable.

Oh I'm sure it's soft, but it's a '64 1/2 Mustang, if you have a title and a VIN tag it can be restored out of a catalog.

It just won't be cheap.

My Pa-in-law is checking on the vin #......I'll keep you guys posted.....good news was I put 200 miles on the "36 going down the River Road......

You can't restore rust. :icon_rofl:

Who said that? The body don't matter as long as the vin tag isn't rusted away.

You can buy almost all of the body parts new and weld it together, or buy a rust free donor body from Arizona and transfer everything to it, that's what I was talking about.

People have done this to save a valuable vin number like a Shelby or hemi car. That's why I said if you have a title and a vin tag it can be restored.

Guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The original owner brought the complete pack of papers/title to my Pa-in-law this morning...paw-in-law's brother owns the car!!!!

I'll pick up the papers tomorrow (God-willing) and post em here & in the TAILGATE---"Wut wood you do with her?" thread.

Sticking a VIN number from one car onto another car is not a restoration. If you think it is, then I've got a few bridges to sell you. :icon_idea:

No it's not a restoration, it's called a re-body, and it's a shady practice some restorers use to get a car up for sale as the legit car so they can make some serious $$. It happens more often than you think. Maybe I can trade you one for that bridge. :)

What exactly is your point anyway, that doorgunner shouldn't dig that car out and try to restore it?

No I don't think he should, I'm just making the point that it's possible.

Or is it that people who buy classic cars based on the the VIN are douchebags?

They are, but that's how the collector car world works so get used to it.

I'm gonna stop hijacking this thread now.

Doorgunner the truck is awesome, keep up the good work!! :icon_thumby:

If all you're doing is swapping the Vin muber from one car to another, leave the car where it is and just take the Vin numbers. It's a lot less work. My whole point was that when you try to move that car, it's going to fall apart. You might salvage a few parts, but that's all you're going to get out of it. And yea, if you're buying a re-VIN'd car, you're either a douchebag or a dumbass, depending on your knowledge of what you're buying.
