Just Plain Stupied

yep........things went downhill when they switched to unleaded gas...ever since then--I just don't have the stamina that I once had.....there's just something extra about washing engine parts in leaded gas with 95 octane that makes you wanna do anything wide-eyed & wide open!

But there's lots of other neat chemicals in the gas now that should give similar side effects ?:icon_welder::icon_hornsup: Like the "lubricity" additive that took the place of sulphur in diesel fuel. The stuff eats thru concrete and at the same time eats the soles of your work boots too. :icon_surprised::yahoo:

thanks for the update.......but I'd rather stick with proven carcenogens.....there's no telling what the new stuff will do to you.....Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaaaaaa!

YO !

My father-in-law is gonna take me to pick up a 64 1/2 Mustang convertible when I get bact to Louisiana....Original owner vehicle!

He said that I'll have to bring a chainsaw....you see...he said there's about a 30 year old tree growing up thru a hole in the floorboard.....but the hood has been kept closed and the engine looks real good........Y_E_S_S_S_S !

Looks like the '36 Ranger gets a receiver built around the spare tire this week....good thang you guys tricked me into putting that V-8 in it....I'm gonna need the towing power....(of course we all know that the OEM 2.9L would have been just fine on Louisiana pancake - flat - terrain.....LOL

:worthless:

The 2.9 wasn't that bad in the mountains. I towed an older heavy popup camper out west in 91 with mine. Wife, and two kids, the camper and the dog. Never had a problem going up several passes ( Engineer and Red Mountain north of Durango, plus Tennessee going southbound.) It was a damned sight better than the wife's 08 T&C minivan that's got a 4.0 backed by a 6 speed automatic. You ever see a 4.0 V6 burn gas at the rate of 7 mpg ? :icon_surprised::shok: And that was on I-49 between here and Nachitoches:icon_rofl:

Doorgunner, fantastic job on your truck.Do you know that Classic 36 is now out of business, the owner died in May. Have you got any ideas what to do with a 92 chassis
with a 302 on board with no body.I a little to long to order the body.

I thought about adapting a real steel body on mine, when time and money permit.:icon_confused:

MAN! I sorry to hear that! He was a great guy! His son died young too...I bet they've been having a great time in Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!

If'n I was you guys....I'd buy an original cab that I liked....take my time fixin it up & saving some money....then I'd buy aftermarket steel or good quality fiberglass fenders.....steel bed (shop around & get a good deal)...steel hood/grill.....chrome or stainless grill-insert (to eliminate rusting)....I'd take the chassis and shrten the wheelbase if necessary to fit the body....etc.

You could do all that fora lot less than buying the body kit like I did.....
trust me...I am a doorgunner....

This just reminds me that I need to get out there and work on my 66. Too many projects and not enough daylight.

You going to try and save that car?

You going to try and save that car?

well......You can stick your finger thru ANY part of the hood.....The grill honeycomb is good the chrome bar & mustang are good....the front bumper is a rusted pretzel....the front fenders are 50% rust....the air cleaner has been off the carb for 20+ years.....the winshield frame is rust.....the vent window frames are rust....the door bottoms are rust...the floorboards are gone....the seats are rotted thru.....the rear quarterpanels are rust.....there is no body from the trunk lock to the gas tank from rust....the wheels are sunk to thr frame in Louisiana mud....the vines that are wrapped around it are 2" thick....

other than that it looks pretty good........

I HATE :annoyed: to see any old vehicle rust away...:bawling:...nope..:dunno:.....gonna finish my '36 interior and go cruizin........
