*****O.K.....to keep things simple....all of the Driver's side head mod's will be posted in this post*****
The engine side panel has been removed to access the head & header...(aaarrrggggg...nasty looking chrome valve cover!)
the sparkplug wires, valve cover, alternator, radiator support rod, steering rod, & header have been removed...
all the rocker arms, pushrods, intake manifold bolts(to driver's side head) & headbolts have been removed....
the head has been popped aloose from the block.......
the ...(grunnt....grunntt)...head has been lifted out of place & set on the fender....(the only problem was getting the head past the brake lines)...
time to go to SONIC for some food...then start the mods on the head...be back in an hour....
well...I'm back from Sonic, but it's taken longer to upload/sideload/download/postload the photos than it did to complete the head work....
it didn't take much polishing to smooth the ports out--I just knocked the rough spots down.......
I replaced all the worn black seals with the white teflon seals.......
the driver's side head is reassembled & ready to be re-installed.....................
the block is cleaned and the new thin headgasket is in place.....
RATS!!!!!
I'm too tired to re-install the head tonite--V.A. meds keep me sane...kinda....but drain all the energy outta me.......
I'll try to finish it tomorrow & take it for a test drive (unless God has other plans).......
It's tomorrow.......I just bolted the head in place...(and forgot that I have 2 meetings to go to today...RATS again)
Let's try again this afternoon.....
well.....I did manage to get something done....4 new 1:6 intake rocker arms are installed along with the original exhaust rockers....
header is bolted in with new exhaust gasket.....engine is running...rocker arms are adjusted..valve cover is re-installed.......it's idling 200 rpm tooooo fast (again)...I'll idle it down after the air cleaner is installed & the idle air screws are adjusted.....
slapped on the dual inlet kaaa-rome air cleaner...(gonna havta modify the inlet tubes so they point forward for cold-air set-up...
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....clean chrome (well--kinda clean)
All I gotta do now is bolt the engine side-panel in place & take it for a spin in the morning....
