Fuel boiling is never good, could cause vapor lock on ya. What is the power band on the engine? Try to gear her so that she stay in that. My truck having 3.73 gears and 32 inch tires, I keep it in 3rd when I can and my mileage improved a bit.

had nothing to do with that. it was when i shut the truck off the heat from the intake would transfer right to the carb and perculate the fuel in the bowls and let it drip down the intake.

the spacer solved this. no more hard hot starts. and no more sizzling gas when i shut it down.

got the new shocks in all aorund. MUCH BETTER. the old ones snapped when i unbolted them.

then i got the new front brakes in. much nicer now.

all thats left is my new mufflers and remake the tailpipes and new hangers. and were golden

i finally put a tach in my truck. at about 70 mph (according to my gps) im turning 2200 rpm with the lock out engaged.

thats with the stock 3.45 rear and 225/70/14 tires

That's perfect........I slightly messed up by putting the 2.94 gears in along with 225/70/15 tires.....it does 2200 rpm in 4th @ 70 mph WITHOUT overdrive engaged!

The problem is....if I ENGAGE overdrive below 65 mph....the vacuum drops fro 18 down to 14....which means the gas mpg drops from 21mpg down to 16 mpg

blackwidow - you are not finished that cowl hood yet? I photoshopped that like 10 years ago - at least it feels like it. hahahahahaha . . . I also need to see progress pics - hell get out a crayon and draw a freaking picture already . . . something!

YEAH i fell behind a tad. been just driving the truck.

shes in my shop now getting ready for paint. im forced to take tons of pics then.

ill post up pics tomoro after i charge my camera.

if all goes well. shell be getting painted tuesday or wednesday.
