Just curious. How rare are regular cab rangers that have 4WD?

My FIL has one, I have one and my parts truck was one.

I've seen some around. The SuperCab 4x4s do seem to be much more common than standard-cab 4x4s in later Rangers (1994–2011).

Hardly anyone wants a standard cab. When I was looking for a Ranger, it had to be a SuperCab. That was not negotiable, and I did see some nice regular-cab Rangers. In a 4x4 in particular, few want the back window smack behind their head.

I have a parts truck, regular cab 4x4 with a 2.3

For my first vehicle I originally looked at getting a regular cab Ranger, but I didn’t fit in the cab all that well, my knee hit the steering wheel trying to work the clutch. The seat went back more in the extended cab, so that’s what I got. I have a love/hate with my regular cab F-150. More cab space would be darn useful. But it being a regular cab long bed, it fits in tighter spots than an extended cab long bed. I think a lot of people like the idea of more cab space.

As the trend moves to more "car like" trucks, the idea of a small cozy cab is fading into obscurity. People want people hauler's and Trucks are "cool" so the Car companies quit building trucks that nobody wants. In turn, that makes a Reg cab truck "rare". Now we hear that ALL Rangers will be 4 door. Because A) they sell for a higher price, and B) They get more money for 4 doors. If you want a cheap truck, pay 20% mark up on a Maverick.

My single cab is 2x4 but it would be cooler if it was 4x4. Not that i need 4x4 but since i already have torsion bars, might as well have the rest of the parts

I believe you mean 4x2. A 2x4 is a piece of lumber. It’s always # of wheels X drive wheels…

Definitely agree though, if you have torsion bars, why not the rest of the parts… wonder how hard it would be to convert those….

Between my 2wd Edge and the EB Explorer donor I have, it looks pretty straight forward. I plan on swapping the AWD drivetrain to my truck one day.

2.3L, FM-145 (I think), not sure if I stole the T-case or not, that might have been the replacement for the 1350 in my choptop that stopped shifting and when I drained it I got about a cup of chocolate milkshake.
