Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

bought my first welder last night. Wahoo! Its nothing special, bought it from "Stinky Fab" off pirate, paid 400 bucks for the welder, cart, tank (still some gas in it), and the lines. Its a Hobart 135. works good, was taken care of, and runs off 110V. Will be good for most of the stuff i'd need it for. He used it on his roll cage and its held up so far.

hobart's are good.. even the 110v ones.

I would like to get a mig welder. Hobart is my choice or a Miller

i used a buddy's Lincoln 125 and it worked ok. It was setup for flux core though (i fawking HATE flux core) but it is what i used on the braces for my track rod. I barely know how to MIG, much less anything else. I am thinking about taking a class on it when i get back to the K-Y though

I'm just now getting the hang of flux core. Though I am completely self taught.

i hate it. I had used it before when i had my CJ, and hated then too. When i put the 9" in, I used a Millermatic 250 and LOVED it. My dad has the same thing at the hot rod shop, but he has it set to burn sheet metal. This will be great for me to practice with. Now i am looking to find me a JB2 bender, but i have no idea what to look for when it comes to a bender

yea, John (railman) told me to talk to him too. I just didn't want to waste his time until i actually get the thing

I got a snapon 250 and it works pretty good, I like it (although its at a buddies house right now) But here pretty soon I'll have to go get it. I've been using Jay's setup which works pretty good for the size it is...

Jay's is a flux core setup right? It looks like it in the recent pictures of SVT

ill be buying a miller 252 one of these days, one bad ass welder.

i bought my jd2 bender directly from their website

Yeah, it is. He has flux wire, but his welder has the setup to run gas wire, just didnt have a bottle and it came with 030 flux wire, so thats what we used..

yea, this one and my pops have .025 for sheet metal, but he gave me a few 030 tips, so i just have to get wire, helmet, gloves, and i should be ready

Jon, did you go with manual or hydraulic? What dies did you go with? I thought they were more than that. 300 bucks for a manual one isn't bad at all

i bought the manual and figured id go to hydro later....

i bought 1" and 1.5" dies, if i had to do it again it would have been 1.5 and 1.75.

the bender and 2 dies were $800 to my door. the dies is where they get you.
