Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

Really? Shouldve known. I did eliminate all the air Pockets. Going to get a new temp sensor today

gotta be one of the best looking off road rangers ive seen. cant wait til you get some new meat under her

Hey, thanks Koty. I just wish i could get this cooling situation figured out.

One of the main reasons why I go with AutoMeter Mechanical water temp gauges....Dead on accuracy every time and I know exactly what my temp is...
SVT

when i go to the V8, i will have all new autometer guages for everything.

wow, it is STILL getting hot. I can still smell antifreeze. And again, it is only getting hot at high speeds. I am buying a new fan shroud, but i am worried that my radiator is where the problem is. And its brand new.... I have a little over a week to get this fawker ready for KOH, and its still overheating. FML

Did you take and flush the system out?? If you haven't, you might need to use a flush treatment. Did the coolant have rust in it when you first took it down??
SVT

I did. when i did the head gaskets, i flushed the system out. I also replaced the upper radiator hose. I never thought about it, but i might have figured it out....

When the radiator fan got stuck on the shroud, i made sure it wouldn't happen again, so i cut i ginormous hole in the top of the shroud.....

I am going to get another shroud from the jy and see if that fixes it. I also ordered a dual electric fan setup to go on.

you might have posted it already, but what size coilovers are you running and whats your spring rates? im about to do the same setup for the most part, but i think im going to go with 14inch foa's with a 250 over 175.:dunno:

250 over 175 is way too soft. I am running King 14" 2.5's

Fox recommended 200/300 for if i go mainly offroad, but mine being a DD, I am going to run 250 over 300 on the new ones.

I currently have 300/450, which came off a V8 race truck, which are way too stiff for crawling, but going fast, they are kick ass. I am selling the ones i have for 700, with springs. They do need to be rebuilt though

do you know what the corner sprung weight of your truck is? or did you just tell fox what vehicle you had? i used foa's rate calculator and put in the length from the fulcrum point to lower c/o mount, the length of fulcrum point to wheel centerline, then the degree of the c/o, a 65% droop and a guesstimated corner sprung weight of 950lbs. that gave me 250 over 175.

i was hoping of being able to get away with a 16inch c/o but then id only have 2inches of up travel, so im just going to run the 14inch 2.0 foa's. what length rears did you get? im hoping to be able to fit 14's back there too, but idk how to mount the shackles so i can actually use all the shocks extension.

I have no idea bud. I just called them and told them what the truck was, and what it was used for.

I can say that I have buddies with Jeeps that run 200/300, and they are a lot lighter than this truck.

As far as the rear goes, I am running some cheap set of Ranchos or something. Not sure what size they are. They are 32" eyelet to eyelet and i used the stock mounting locations. I plan to do more to the rear after the V8, but for what it is used for, it works fine for me.

I love the new front end and the new paint!! Looks awesome!! Very Sharp!

Thanks brother! I'm very happy with it.

holy crap man! freaking awesome build!
