I have a 89 Ranger extended cab 4X4, 2.9, Automatic, with 250K on the vehicle. In cold weather when I push the 4X4 button on the dash, the black box behind the left jump seat, clicks, and nothing happens. There is a white button on the top of the black box, when pushed a red LED lightes up. I know that there 3 components invovled. I am looking for a diagnostic starting point and possible cures.
