Jim Oaks getting some national attention.


With a different body on it maybe. Looks way too Tacoma for me. The Ranger and the F-Series have had similar looks for a long time. If they gave it a North American "truck" design I'd be in. I like the idea of a 4-door but too many sacrifice bed for back seat. Give me an extended cab 4-door option. It should be larger on the inside than our trucks since it's a 7/8ths F150. This way I can keep the bed size for when I need it.

Better to have one that looks like a tacoma with a FORD logo on the back of it, rather than have nothing at all. I hate FORD management. They are truly morons for discontinuing the Ranger. The 2010 and up rangers in Brazil and south america looked just like the F-150. It is only on the 2012 that it is going to look like a Tacoma. I would be proud to have one in my driveway.:icon_thumby:
But It looks like I will have to follow suit just like the wife and go Toyota. :bawling: I need a new truck and I am not going to buy a used one or a F-150 eco-BOAST! A Tacoma would look rather nice next to her prius.

And from a decent F-150, it's not too big a step to get a Super Duty...

Thank you! Finally someone gets it. Yeah so, I can buy a F-150 with a ford escort front drive train, more plastic in the interior than Fisher Price uses in a year. So what?! Yeah it's 10" higher and FOUR FEET LONGER. No shit morons, that is just pointing out reasons NOT to like it. It's bigger, harder to park, won't fit it some garages, etc. If you like concrete seats, rubber floors, dummy guages, and ugly ass interiors get a base model F-150, if you want something smaller that is more ' proportional ' then find a used Ranger and beat the hell out of it. It will laugh in your face and keep going.

I've owned a 2002 F-250. It had the 5.4L V8 it was the worst truck ever as far as mileage and power. It looked cool, but it got 11MPG and couldn't get out of it's own way.

I guess my point is, I would never buy an F-150. If I was to buy another fullsize I would pick up another *gasp* 2006 Duramax LBZ, for under 20K, have 350HP, 650ft/lb torque and beat the shit out of a F-150 as far as mileage. Screw your ecoboost. My ecoboost whistles when I get on it... oh wait, that's the turbo.

And you obviously haven't driven a newer F150...that ecoboost is damn impressive engine.
 
I hate to agree with him, but as far as 'new' engine designs go.... the Duramax kicks ass. Rocket ship power with decent mileage and fairly reliable, especially in 06/07 in the pre-DPF trucks.

I'd gladly take an ecoboost if someone gave me one but it aint gonna haul like a D-max.


And in ranger matters, a 4 dr traditional body style (think mexican) with a diesel would kickass.

I didn't know how much I liked my 2006 until I no longer have it and now realize how good a price I got it for in the shape it was in.

yep, i like them... but i wouldn't buy one for the next 3 years or so... maybe after that.

but then again, my plan is to drive the b2 till i can buy an f250 oil burner :D i'm skipping the f150.

my g/f just got a nice f150. its an 04 5.4 lariat... not sure what that has to do w/ this tho.. :icon_confused::icon_rofl::thefinger:
 
They cannot force us, especially me, to buy an F series until I am ready too. I love my Ranger and like many have stated, they will have to pry the keys out of my cold dead hands before I give it up. I had an F-150 before I went into the military with the 4.9 inline six backed by a manual trans, loved it but it was way too long. I really do not care for the new design of the F series. If they were to give me one to drive, then I would not complain but since that will never happen I will drive my Ranger until one of us gives up. If the truck gives up before me, totaled in an accident, then I will buy another Ranger and start over.

If Jim admitted to being a minority lesbian, AP would have implored Ford to keep the Ranger.

Oh yeah, I get it. That's why my next truck will have a Powerstroke under the hood. I love Rangers and grew up driving them, and plan to have one as a trail toy, but I need something bigger. While the Ecoboost is pretty damn sexy, I need/want a truck that can do more. Plus there's just something about a 04 or so crewcab 4x4 PSD with a 8 ft bed, lumber rack and tool box that just gets me going...
